Cotton Candy Neotraditional: Inside Brittany Hayward’s Colorful World

There’s something powerful about creating a space where people feel safe, seen, and celebrated — and that’s exactly what Brittany Hayward is doing.

Brittany is the owner of The Plastic Flamingo in Daytona Beach — an all-female studio built on creativity, inclusivity, and serious artistic talent.

Known for what she calls “cotton candy neotraditional,” Brittany blends bright, girly-pop aesthetics with bold neotraditional structure. She also works in realism and often merges the two into a unique mixed style that feels both playful and powerful. In addition to custom tattoo work, she offers medical tattooing, including areola reconstruction — work that carries deep personal meaning for her clients.

Brittany has been tattooing for 14 years and has watched the industry evolve into a more welcoming and inclusive space. As she puts it:

“I’m inspired by everything pink and girly pop! I own an all female studio! I have been tattooing for 14 years and everything is continuously getting more open and inviting to everyone! It never used to be like this.”

Brittany has completed Bloodborne Pathogens Training with Body Art Training Group, reinforcing her commitment to safe, sanitary, and professional tattoo practices.

    💡 Safety Tip from Brittany

“One of my favorite safety tips is wrapping your tray in a foot bath liner for a spa! It’s so much easier and safer to clean up than wrapping your tray in Saran wrap. There’s no holes and nothing can leak through if you spill!”

You can follow Brittany’s work on Instagram at @haybrittany or learn more about the studio at on her website.

Artists like Brittany are helping shape a more inclusive, expressive future for body art — and we’re here for it.
