Course Description

EHS100 provides high quality, engaging content that is directly linked to the body art shop safety requirements of Cal/OSHA and the Safe Body Art Act. The training provided by EHS100 includes:
•    An explanation of key parts of the California Code of Regulations Title 8, Sec. 5193 and of the Safe Body Art Act
•    A general explanation of the epidemiology of bloodborne diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C
•    Information on skin anatomy
•    An explanation of the requirements of an exposure control plan (ECP); of an Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP); and of an Exposure Control and Infection Prevention Plan (ECIPP)
•    An explanation of the difference between Universal Precautions and Standard Precautions
•    An explanation of the appropriate methods for recognizing tasks and other activities that may involve exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials
•    An explanation of the use and limitations of methods that will prevent or reduce exposure to bloodborne pathogens including appropriate engineering controls, work practices, and personal protective equipment
•    Information on the hepatitis B vaccine, including information on its efficacy, safety, method of administration, and the benefits of being vaccinated
•    Information on the appropriate actions to take and persons to contact in an emergency involving blood or other potentially infectious materials
•    An explanation of the procedure to follow if an exposure incident occurs, including the method of reporting the incident and the medical follow-up that will be made available
•    Information on the post-exposure evaluation and follow-up that the employer is required to provide for the employee following an exposure incident
•    An explanation of the signs, labels, and color coding that are used to communicate hazards
•    Information on record-keeping and training requirements
